Music & Movement
Our Baby Music Class is all about having fun and introducing your child to the wonderful world of music! We’ll sing, move, and play together, helping your little one explore different sounds, rhythms, and movements. Whether it’s clapping, tapping, or just swaying along, every song is designed to get those little bodies moving and those tiny brains working. It’s less about perfect notes and more about having a blast and connecting through music, because when your little one is happy, you’re happy, right? Come join us for a class full of giggles, wiggles, and some sweet tunes!
Why is our Music & Movement class beneficial?
- Music stimulates brain development
- Supports language skills and memory
- Helps boost coordination
- Strengthens both fine and gross motor skills
The Power of Music and Movement
Music isn’t just entertaining, it’s a powerful tool used to support development. Led by a music therapist, we use classic children’s songs to encourage language development, movement, focus, and regulation.
Your little one will try new instruments, toss scarves, run under the parachute, and pop lots of bubbles. There’s plenty of jumping, dancing and twirling! It’s a sensory-packed class that builds coordination, listening skills, and even early math concepts like patterns and sequencing.
But it’s not just about skill-building, it’s about joy. There’s something magical about a room full of parents and little ones laughing, clapping, and dancing together.
Some children join in from the first song; others prefer to watch until the last five minutes. That’s okay! We follow the kids’ pace, turning up the energy when the wiggles show up and softening with lullabies when energy dips. We ask caregivers to sing and move with the group to gently encourage all children to join when they’re ready.
What to Expect in Class
Each Music & Movement class opens with a friendly hello song to help everyone settle in and meet each other. From there, our music therapist follows the room’s energy, mixing singing with hand motions, chances to try instruments, big movement for the wiggles, and quieter moments when little bodies need a reset. At the end of class, we sing one last goodbye song to help unwind and transition to the next activity, while making sure the class feels predictable.
During class, kids get real, hands-on music time. We shake and tap little instruments, sing along to a guitar or tongue drum, and play under the parachute. We’ll play peekaboo with scarves with our babies, practice hand motions to “Wheels on the Bus” for coordination, “Sleeping Bunnies” to follow directions and get the zoomies out, “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” for body parts, and taking turns on the drum to practice patience. We believe in play that feels simple and fun while quietly building language, motor skills, and emotional regulation.
