Movement & Milestones
Next series starting September 24th
Movement & Milestones is a 3-week developmental series for babies who are starting to sit, working on sitting independently, learning to transition between positions, or beginning to explore crawling.
Led by a pediatric physical therapist, you’ll learn how these movement skills develop, what signs to look for as new milestones begin to emerge, and how to support your baby through everyday positioning, movement and play.
You’ll leave each class understanding what your baby is working toward and feeling more confident about how to support them at home.
Why is Movement & Milestones beneficial?
Sitting Is Just the Beginning
Watching your baby begin to sit is exciting. Suddenly they can see and interact with the world in a completely different way.
But sitting independently is only one piece of the picture. Babies also need to learn how to get into sitting, get back out, reach outside their base of support, shift their weight and move between positions as they work toward becoming more mobile.
And as a parent, it isn’t always obvious what you should be encouraging, what positions are most helpful, or when to step in and support versus giving your baby space to figure something out.
Movement & Milestones helps make those invisible pieces visible.
What to Expect in Class
Each week, you will be guided through the movement skills your baby is developing right now and what typically comes next. You’ll learn what different positions are doing for your baby’s body, how sitting develops, how babies begin moving in and out of positions, and what early crawling preparation can look like.
You’ll have the opportunity to practice positioning and transitions with your own baby and learn what you’re looking for, why it matters and how you can support it at home.
This isn’t about putting babies through a list of exercises or trying to get them to the next milestone faster. It’s about understanding development so everyday floor play becomes more intentional without becoming one more thing you have to “get right.”
Groups are kept small so there is time for personal questions and guidance.
Not Sitting Yet? You're Not Too Early.
Your baby does not need to be sitting independently to join Movement & Milestones.
This series is designed for the whole progression from learning to prop sit → independent sitting → transitions → early crawling.
That might mean your baby is just beginning to work on sitting with support. They may already be sitting confidently but haven’t figured out how to get back down. Or maybe they’re starting to pivot, scoot, reach farther and explore getting onto hands and knees.
Babies reach these stages at different ages, so we focus on supporting where your baby is right now, and what they’re working toward next.
Support the Milestones Without Pressure
Your baby doesn’t need to be pushed toward the next skill. But you also don’t have to sit back wondering what you’re supposed to be doing.
Movement & Milestones gives you the knowledge to understand what’s happening and the confidence to support your baby through it.
